Ambient music is a style of music that emphasizes the tone and atmosphere. It often lacks a structured melody but uses layers of sound to reward passive and active listening. Listeners may find ambient music relaxing, soothing, or meditative. The resulting music may be a combination of textures and tones that create a mood that encourages contemplation and relaxation.

Ambient music was pioneered by Brian Eno in the 1970s. He did not initially consider himself an Ambient artist, and his early albums often explored the boundaries between experimental rock and Art-Pop. However, he eventually came to identify ambient music as its own genre. He coined the term in 1974.

Ambient music can be found in many forms, including classical and jazz music. Some pieces are even recorded in specific locations. Flute player Paul Horn, for example, recorded his 1977 album "Inside the Great Pyramid," later released as "Inside the Cathedral." A classical Chinese poet, Wang Wei, created an album titled "Inside the Taj Mahal" in 1968 and was later released as two separate albums.

Ambient music is a genre of music with a minimalist aesthetic. It is often influenced by avant-garde and experimental movements. During the mid-20th century, many composers embraced minimalism, unorthodoxy, and experimentalism. This trend was also responsible for stretching the boundaries of rock music. In the West, krautrock became popular as an artistic expression and is widely regarded as an example of ambient music.

Ambient music has evolved into a remarkably diverse genre. Its roots in classical music have influenced its development. The genres of ambient music have a rich history of relationship. In fact, ambient music and classical music have been closely related since the early twentieth century.

Ambient music is a popular genre of music that is often accompanied by other forms of music. It can help people reduce stress and anxiety. In fact, it's a much better form of treatment than drugs. Ambient music is not only relaxing, it also helps people be more present in the present moment.

Ambient music is a subgenre of electronic music. This genre emphasizes tonal and atmospheric qualities. It is often slow and abstract and should not be intended for dancing. The main components of ambient music are slow, progressive modulation, drones, and textures. The aim is to create a diffused, passive perception of sound.

Ambient music has a rich history in the field of electronic music. The genre grew in popularity in the 1990s with artists such as Aphex Twin. Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II solidified the genre's relevance. This album is a touchstone for the more accessible end of ambient music. Aphex Twin's sound is characterized by filtered downtempo grooves and warm harmonic phrases. In addition, Wolfgang Voight introduced the pulsating kick drum to ambient music with his album, Konigsforst.
